Trailer Watch: Laura Vandervoort Is Insatiable in The Soska Sisters’ “Rabid”

"Rabid"

An aspiring fashion designer is left disfigured following a freak accident in a new trailer for “Rabid,” The Soska Sisters’ remake of David Cronenberg’s 1977 horror pic of the same name.

Rose (Laura Vandervoort, “Supergirl,” “Bitten”) finds herself at a mysterious research facility dedicated to stem cell manipulation. Assured that they are “one of the leaders in regenerative medicine” and surgery will be a “mutually beneficial situation” because they need human subjects for their work, Rose agrees to a procedure involving an experimental skin graft. She’s warned about her body feeling weakened, but Rose feels strong and beautiful — until the “one or two side effects” she’s cautioned about flare up.

As she explains, Rose is “always hungry,” and not for typical fare. We see her going to town on a huge slab of raw meat and describing an insatiable craving for blood.

The Soskas’ other credits include “See No Evil 2” and “Vendetta.”

“Rabid” hits select theaters and VOD December 13.
