“Be strong. Don’t quit,” Lena Headey is told in a new trailer for “9 Bullets.” Written and directed by Gigi Gaston (“Rip it Off”), the thriller sees the Emmy-nominated “Game of Thrones” alumna playing a former burlesque dancer turned author who finds herself in mortal danger. She risks everything to try to rescue her young neighbor (Dean Scott Vazquez) after he witnesses his parents’ murder at the hands of professional killers — and now she’s on their bad side, too. She takes the child and hits the road, trying to escape from the men and their boss.
The spot suggests that she begins to question her decision. “I got a chance to change my life. I can’t let anything, including a kid, get in the way of that,” she says.
Headey, whose film credits include “Gunpowder Milkshake” and “Fighting with My Family,” is set to make her feature directorial debut with “Violet,” a story about two solo female travelers that’s been compared to “The Talented Mr. Ripley,” “Single White Female,” and “Killing Eve.”
You can catch “9 Bullets” in theaters and on demand April 22.
