Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin are back for Season 2 of “Grace and Frankie,” and if a newly unveiled trailer from Netflix is any indication, the dynamic duo — and viewers — are in for one helluva ride in the sophomore season of the Netflix comedy.
Last year’s season finale saw Frankie hook up with Sol (Sam Waterston, “Law & Order”). “Kids, brace yourselves,” Frankie (Tomlin) warns. She is about to catch her captive, terrified audience up to speed. It’s awkward to get an update about your mom and dad’s sex life. Period. It’s considerably more awkward — and confusing — in this case because these particular parents are separated. And Sol is currently in a relationship with another man. “It was great,” Frankie summarizes, before quickly clarifying, “Not the sex — the sex was meh.”
The clip features best friends Grace and Frankie defiling watermelons, debating the value of existential introspection and riffing on every woman’s favorite buzzy companion.
Catch Season 2 when it premieres on Netflix May 6.
The streaming service has already renewed “Grace and Frankie” for a third season. Tomlin was nominated for an Emmy and Golden Globe for her work in Season 1.
