A trailer has been released for a new MAKERS documentary celebrating the 20th anniversary of the largest gathering of women ever assembled, the UN’s 1995 World Conference on Women in Beijing. “MAKERS: Once and For All” follows the events leading up to the conference, in which 189 countries participated, and considers the legacy of the event, as well as the work that remains to be done on the path toward gender equality. The doc features commentary from former Secretary of State Madeleine Albright, activist and “Grace and Frankie” star Jane Fonda, former delegates and many of the groundbreaking conference’s attendees.
The clip for “MAKERS: Once and For All” includes photos, videos and audio of many of the 47,000 women who gathered to honor and defend women’s rights. Featured most prominently, however, is Hillary Rodham Clinton, who declares, “If there is one message that echoes forth from this conference, let it be that human rights are women’s rights, and women’s rights are human rights, once and for all.”
“MAKERS: Once and For All” will premiere on MAKERS.com this November.
