Malin Akerman and Kat Dennings’ plans for a quiet Thanksgiving take a major turn in “Friendsgiving,” Nicol Paone’s feature directorial debut. A new trailer for the comedy sees Abby (Dennings) shocked to discover that her BFF Molly (Akerman), who only recently broke up with her cheating ex, is dating someone new — and that she has invited him to their intimate gathering.
“I can’t believe you’re seeing someone already. Don’t you think it’s a little quick to move on?” Abby asks. A defensive Molly explains, “Maybe I don’t want to spend the day stuffing my face with sugar and regret.”
Molly’s eccentric mother (Jane Seymour) is only adding to the drama, especially since she decided to invite her daughter’s ex (Ryan Hansen) over to join them for turkey dinner. The ever-expanding guest list also includes a woman (Aisha Tyler) Molly is trying to set Abby up with.
“Friendsgiving” will be available in theaters and on VOD and digital October 23. Paone penned the script.
