Viewers will be reunited with the Pfefferman family in just over a month, and fortunately “Transparent” fans have a newly released trailer for Season 3 of the series to tide them over until it launches on Amazon Prime.
The preview clocks in at just under two minutes, but it’s clear that the Pfeffermans are still struggling to reconcile the past and the present, and to find their identities, both as individuals and as a family unit.
As Maura (Jeffrey Tambor) blows out birthday candles she reveals, “One of the things I wished for is that you don’t call me Moppa anymore.” She asks, to the apparent dismay of Shelly (Judith Light), “How about you guys can start calling me mom?”
We also get peeks of Ali (Gaby Hoffmann) dealing with relationship issues, Josh (Jay Duplass) reuniting with an important person from his not-so-distant past, and Sarah (Amy Landecker) venturing into a BDSM community.
The preview emphasizes the show’s impressive track record, which includes five Emmys, a Peabody, and two Golden Globes. The half-hour series is up for seven Emmys at the 68th annual edition of the awards, set to air September 18. Season 3 debuts September 23 on Amazon Prime.
“Transparent” was created by Jill Soloway, whose “I Love Dick” pilot will arrive on Amazon August 19.
