Our favorite 13-year-old weirdos are back and as delightful as ever. Though Anna (Anna Konkle) claims that “the real thing is we’ve changed,” a new trailer for “Pen15’s” second season suggests that at least one thing has stayed the same: she and Maya (Maya Erskine) remain platonic soulmates.

“She’s my best friend on god’s green frickin’ earth,” Anna says. And that loyalty isn’t even tested when Maya confesses, “When you’re not around I go through your underwear drawer and try on every pair with flowers on them.”

When they’re not declaring their undying devotion for one another, Anna and Maya are focusing most of their energy on boys. We see Maya putting hair in a classmate’s locker and kissing her bedroom mirror for practice — the exercise gets her so riled up that she starts taking inspiration from last season’s “Wild Things” viewing party.

Konkle and Erskine co-created “Pen15” and star as adolescent versions of themselves. The comedy returns to Hulu September 18. Check out the trailer for an update on Anna’s family drama and to see Maya make a memorable entrance at a sleepover.
