Trailer Watch: Mia Hansen-Løve’s “All Is Forgiven” Gets Its First U.S. Theatrical Release

"All Is Forgiven"

“Can you forgive me?” a father asks his daughter in a new trailer for “All Is Forgiven.” Mia Hansen-Løve’s debut feature is getting its first ever U.S. theatrical release, opening in theaters and on digital exclusively at Metrograph on November 5.

Written by Hansen-Løve, the French-language drama introduces the family at its center in 1995 Vienna. Victor (Paul Blain), a writer, likes to spend his days working in the morning, walking in the afternoon, and getting high at night. Besides revealing Victor’s heroin addiction, the spot also shows us his life with partner Annette (Marie-Christine Friedrich) and their young daughter Pamela (Victoire Rousseau).

The film fast-forwards 11 years into the future, and we see Pamela (Constance Rousseau), now an adolescent, living in Paris and trying to make sense of her relationship with her father. “I have a few memories, like flashes,” she tells him. “My mother didn’t explain much. I’d like to understand.”

Hansen-Løve’s latest film, “Bergman Island,” dropped earlier this year. Vicky Krieps stars in the Cannes drama about a writer and director working on her next feature. Hansen-Løve’s other credits include “Maya,” “Things to Come,” and “Eden.”
