Trailer Watch: Mia Wasikowska Heads Back to Wonky Wonderland in ‘Alice Through The Looking Glass’

Mia Wasikowska is returning to Wonderland to reprise her role as Alice, and a new trailer gives us a sense of what adventures await her through the looking glass. Wasikowska will go from battling haunted spirits from the past in “Crimson Peak” to duking it out with Time himself — yes, in this world, Time is an individual (Sacha Baron Cohen) and seemingly bears a grudge against our plucky protagonist.

“Alice Through the Looking Glass” sees the title character struggling to save the Mad Hatter (Johnny Depp) from danger, and in order to do so, it seems she’ll have to get Time on her side. The spot for the 3D film is, as expected, visually stunning and action-packed (including a cameo by a dragon).

The first installment of the franchise, “Alice in Wonderland,” grossed over $1 billion worldwide when it was released in 2010. Alice’s follow-up journey will be penned by the screenwriter behind the first film, Linda Woolverton (“Maleficent”).

“Alice Through The Looking Glass” heads to theaters May 27, 2016. Anne Hathaway and Helena Bonham Carter will co-star.
