When Audrey (Mila Kunis) receives a breakup text from her boyfriend in a new trailer for “The Spy Who Dumped Me,” she decides to mourn the relationship in the usual fashion. Along with her best friend, Morgan (Kate McKinnon), she torches his stuff (“Burn, burn, burn, burn!”) and goes on vacation.
Except the trip to Paris isn’t really the fun getaway either woman was imagining. As Audrey learns, her ex is in the CIA, and she and Morgan are recruited to help him and his colleagues prevent a series of assassinations in Europe. Audrey is understandably freaked out but Morgan views the whole situation from a glass-half-full perspective.
“You wanna die having never been to Europe?” Morgan asks her BFF. “Or do you want to go to Europe and die having been to Europe?” “Why are those my only two options?” Audrey shoots back.
Directed by Susanna Fogel (“Life Partners”), “The Spy Who Dumped Me” also features “The X-Files'” Gillian Anderson as “the Beyoncé of the government.” Sam Heughan (“Outlander”) and Justin Theroux (“The Leftovers”) co-star as well. Fogel wrote the script with David Iserson (“SNL”).
“The Spy Who Dumped Me” hits theaters August 3.
