Trailer Watch: Mila Kunis and Kristen Bell Are “Bad Moms”

“Bad Moms”

“I’m so tired of trying to be this perfect mom,” reveals Mila Kunis in the newly released Red Band trailer for “Bad Moms.” The overworked, under-appreciated mom simply says she’s “done.” And who can blame her? Expectations for moms tend to be unrealistically — indeed, impossibly — high, a point that’s hilariously driven home at an especially dramatic PTA meeting about a bake sale in the clip.

A fellow mom (Christina Applegate) presents a ludicrous Power Point presentation — so professional and intense it seems like she’s giving directives for soldiers. She prohibits butter, eggs, soy, and pretty much every other ingredient one associates with a bake sale. And it’s a breaking point for Kunis’ character. It’s there, in front of the mothers of her childrens’ peers, that she breaks down and admits defeat — or is she standing up and finally giving herself the chance to be happy?

Kunis finds allies in two other mothers (Kristen Bell and Kathryn Hahn) who are inspired by her bold declaration. “You said everything I’ve ever felt about being a mom but couldn’t say,” Bell exclaims. Hahn adds, “There’s so many fucking rules now!” The comedy sees the trio endeavor to stop judging themselves so harshly and to bring down the “perfect moms” — a clique led by Applegate.

Check out the trailer to see funny, R-rated exchanges about uniboob bras and creative solutions for “never-hard” husbands.

“Bad Moms” opens July 29.
