Trailer Watch: ‘My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2’ Promises More Fun and Dysfunction

Audiences are finally invited to another big, fat Greek wedding — and we have a preview of what to expect at the fun-filled, boundary-crossing party.

“My Big Fat Greek Wedding” grossed over $365 million when it was released in 2002, making it one of the year’s — indeed, of the decade’s — biggest indie success stories. Nia Vardalos wrote and starred in the romantic comedy, which is finally getting a sequel.

Vardalos reprises her writer duties and her role as Toula Portokalos in “My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2,” which sees Toula’s daughter Paris (Elena Kampouris, “The Cobbler”) facing the same struggle her mother once did: keeping her invasive, overenthusiastic family out of her business. “They follow me everywhere. I need some air,” Paris explains before announcing that the colleges she applied to are far from home. Her desire to escape the bonds of their love isn’t exactly shocking given that the family considers pubic landscaping a reasonable topic of discussion.

But before Paris heads off for school, the whole clan will come together to celebrate another wedding.

“My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2” lands in theaters March 25, 2016.
