“I saw my house from space — not literally, but my life,” says Natalie Portman in a new trailer for “Lucy in the Sky.” The Oscar winner plays Lucy, an astronaut returning home after a lengthy mission in space. Home is just as Lucy left it, but she’s no longer the same person.
Desperate to go back to space — and leave earth far behind — Lucy struggles to connect with her husband and kids. When a fellow astronaut (Jon Hamm) accuses her of being a “straight arrow” who has “never done anything wrong” in her life, Lucy kisses him, kicking off an affair that could destroy her family and jeopardize her career.
“With her I’m officially beginning to worry,” one of Lucy’s colleagues says.
Portman won an Oscar for “Black Swan” and received nods for “Jackie” and “Closer.” “Vox Lux” and “Annihilation” are among her most recent credits. She made her feature directorial debut with 2015 Amos Oz adaptation “A Tale of Love and Darkness.”
“Lucy in the Sky” will make its world premiere in September at the Toronto International Film Festival and hits theaters this fall. Ellen Bursytn co-stars.
