The original “Girl with the Dragon Tattoo” is still kicking ass. A trailer has dropped for “Close,” a Netflix thriller that sees Noomi Rapace taking on the role of a bodyguard. A counter-terrorist expert who is used to war zones, Sam (Rapace) is hired on the protect Zoe (Sophie Nélisse), a rich heiress who recently inherited shares of her father’s company. What’s essentially a well-paid babysitting gig takes an unexpected turn when an attempted kidnapping sends the two on the run.
The action-packed trailer includes lots of footage of Sam taking charge. “Let’s get one thing straight,” she tells Zoe. “From now on, you do what I say.” Sam’s job is over but she refuses to leave Zoe defenseless. She’ll stay by her side to protect her — and encourage her to fight back.
Best known for starring in the Swedish big screen adaptations of Stieg Larsson’s “Millennium” series, Rapace has gone on to star in films such as “Prometheus” and “Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows.”
“Close” hits Netflix January 18. Vicky Jewson (“Born of War”) co-wrote and directed the pic, which is inspired by the life of the world’s leading female bodyguard, Jacquie Davis.
