Trailer Watch: Noomi Rapace Is Abducted & Subjected to Experiments in “Rupture”

“Rupture”

An idyllic day quickly transforms into the stuff of nightmares in a newly released trailer for “Rupture.” Renee (Noomi Rapace), a single mom, lovingly says goodbye to her son and drives to meet a friend on a particularly beautiful, sunny day. Before she reaches her destination, she gets a flat tire. Two men in a van offer to help but Renee declines their assistance and insists she knows how to fix a flat. But they don’t actually want to help her — and the flat was no accident. It’s there in broad daylight that the two tackle Renee, taser her, and cover her mouth with tape in what’s clearly a premeditated attack.

Renee’s life is “thrown into chaos when she is randomly abducted, drugged, and taken to a secret lab facility,” “Rupture’s” official synopsis hints. “As her captors traumatically experiment on her, Renee must discover why she was chosen and fight to escape her prison.”

“They need us,” Renee is told by a fellow prisoner. One of her captors explains, “You have something very special in you.” Watch the intense trailer to see what the lab wants from Renee — and how they plan to get it.

Rapace’s credits include “Passion,” “Prometheus,” and “The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo.” She’s signed on to star in “Callas,” Niki Caro’s biopic about opera legend Maria Callas.

Directed by Steven Shainberg (“Fur: An Imaginary Portrait of Diane Arbus,” “Secretary”), "Rupture” opens April 28.
