Trailer Watch: Patty Jenkins Investigates Hollywood’s Dark Secrets in “I Am the Night”

"I Am the Night"

Patty Jenkins latest project has a trailer and a new title. Formerly known as “One Day She’ll Darken,” “I Am the Night” is a noir series that digs into some of Hollywood’s darkest history.

The spot introduces us to Fauna Hodel (India Eisley), a young woman who sets off in search of answers when she discovers that she’s adopted. “I guess I just want to know where I come from. Who I am,” she explains. Her investigation leads her to LA and Dr. George Hodel (Jefferson Mays), a gynecologist involved in the infamous “Black Dahlia” murder.

A former marine turned reporter (Chris Pine) is also tracking the case despite threats to let it go. “You gotta remember where you are [and who runs this city,” he’s told. “Some stories don’t want to be told. Some stories will eat you alive.” It’s not long before he and Fauna cross paths, and Fauna is determined to find out everything. “I don’t care what it breaks,” she says.

“I Am the Night” is slated to premiere on TNT January 2019. Jenkins directed two episodes of the six-part drama including its pilot, and is also an executive producer. Best known for directing mega smash “Wonder Woman,” Jenkins received an Emmy nod for helming the pilot of “The Killing.” The “Monster” writer-director is currently in production on “Wonder Woman 1984,” set to bow November 1, 2019. Her deal for the Gal Gadot-starrer makes her the highest-paid female filmmaker ever.
