Trailer Watch: Paula Pell Is a Wannabe Jessica Fletcher in Quibi Comedy “Mapleworth Murders”

"Mapleworth Murders"

“I’ve written 64 murder-mystery novellas. I think I’ve got this,” says Paula Pell in a new trailer for “Mapleworth Murders.” The Quibi comedy sees the “SNL” scribe and “Wine Country” star playing Abigail Mapleworth, an author who vows to solve murders in her small town. The spot suggests that she’s not exactly the gifted detective she fancies herself to be.

When a loud scream is heard by a room full of people, one woman asks, “Does somebody need help?” “Shhh. I’m trying to figure that out,” Abigal demands.

Co-created by Pell and directed by Claire Scanlon (“Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt”), “Mapleworth Murders” premieres on Quibi August 10 and features appearances by Wanda Sykes, Nicole Byer, and Maya Rudolph.
