Rebel Wilson is determined to relive her glory days in “Senior Year,” a Netflix comedy that sees the “Pitch Perfect” alumna returning to high school. “When I was in high school I had the perfect life. I was already cheer captain, I had the hot boyfriend, and all that was left was prom queen,” Stephanie (Wilson) explains in a new trailer for the pic. The year was 2002. An accident left the teen in a coma, and when she regains consciousness, she’s horrified to discover that everyone and everything has moved on without her. “Everybody else just got to go on and live their lives, and what, I’m supposed to just jump forward?” she asks.
Rather than jump forward, the 37-year-old resolves to go back in time by completing her senior year of high school. “It will not be weird at all,” she insists. It’s weird, and Stephanie struggles to make sense of the culture shift that’s occurred in her absence. “Does it ever get exhausting trying to make everybody like you all the time?” she’s asked.
Besides the “Pitch Perfect” franchise, Wilson’s other credits include “Jojo Rabbit,” “Isn’t It Romantic,” and “Bridesmaids.”
“Senior Year” lands on Netflix May 13.
