Jordan Sanders (Regina Hall) is the boss from hell in the new trailer for “Little” — but she gets her comeuppance. After years of bullying her assistant, terrorizing her staff, and literally pushing children out of her way, the tech mogul finally meets someone willing to stand up to her.
“Were you always mean?” a young teenage girl asks Jordan. “I got big and I got rich, so now who’s gonna check me, boo?” Jordan snaps. The young woman wishes Jordan were “little” and would finally be forced to pick on someone her own size.
Next time we see Jordan, she’s in the 13-year-old body of Marsai Martin (“Black-ish”). She pushes a kid, as per her usual morning routine, but this time he pushes her back.
The only person the now-teenage Jordan confides in is her assistant, April (Issa Rae). Trying to understand the situation, April asks, “You went to bed grown and you woke up –?” “Little,” Jordan confirms. “That’s for white people because black people don’t have the time,” April says.
Check out the trailer below to see how Jordan adjusts to being back in middle school.
“Little” is directed by Tina Gordon (“Peeples”), who wrote the script with “Girls Trip’s” Tracy Oliver from Martin’s original idea.
Hall and Rae both appear in Black Lives Matter-themed drama “The Hate U Give.” Hall won the New York Film Critics Circle’s Best Actress award for playing the overworked, overqualified manager of a Hooters-esque restaurant in “Support the Girls.” You can catch her next in Showtime’s Wall Street comedy series “Black Monday,” premiering January 20. Rae’s slate includes Season 4 of the HBO comedy she co-created, “Insecure,” expected later this year, and Stella Meghie’s London-set rom-com “American Princess.”
“Little” hits theaters April 12.
