“True success comes at any cost,” says Renée Zellweger in a new trailer for “What/If.” Described as a “neo-noir social thriller,” the upcoming Netflix series sees the Oscar winner playing a mysterious woman who makes an indecent proposal.
Anne (Zellweger) is willing to finance Lisa’s (Jane Levy, “Suburgatory”) company — for a cost. Convinced that Lisa is “on the brink of greatness,” she insists that the newlywed prove that there aren’t limitations to what she’d be willing to do in order to get to the top. So, how can Lisa prove herself? By giving Anne a night alone with her husband (Blake Jenner, “The Edge of Seventeen”).
“Nothing worthwhile is ever achieved without sacrifice,” Anne insists.
Zellweger won the best supporting actress Academy Award in 2004 for “Cold Mountain.” She’s also received best actress nods for “Bridget Jones’s Diary” and “Chicago.” Her recent credits include “Here and Now” and “Bridget Jones’s Baby.” She’ll play “Wizard of Oz” actress Judy Garland in “Judy,” due this fall.
“What/If” will begin streaming on Netflix May 24.
