Trailer Watch: Robin Thede Introduces “A Black Lady Sketch Show”

"A Black Lady Sketch Show"

HBO just dropped a trailer for a sketch comedy that’s not male, stale, and pale. Created by “The Rundown’s” Robin Thede, “A Black Lady Sketch Show” puts women of color front and center.

The spot for the narrative series sees its core cast of black women, which includes Thede, Ashley Nicole Black, Gabrielle Dennis, and Quinta Brunson, dealing with hiking accidents, power struggles over saying grace, and the realities of being a bad bitch. There’s also a helpful tutorial explaining what a “Flintstone dick” is.

“A Black Lady Sketch Show” premieres August 2. Check out the trailer to catch a glimpse of the show’s many celebrity guests such as Lena Waithe, Laverne Cox, and Issa Rae. The latter serves as an exec producer on the project.
