Trailer Watch: Rory and Lorelai’s Banter is Back in “Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life”

“Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life”

Rory and Lorelai Gilmore are back, and the twosome’s famous repartee is thankfully still intact. A newly released trailer for Netflix’s “Gilmore Girls” reboot has been released, and the fast-talking mother (Lauren Graham) and daughter (Alexis Bledel) are still as as chatty and pop culture savvy as ever, making quips about everyone from Tori Spelling to Ben Affleck.

The trailer hints that both of the women, along with Emily (Kelly Bishop), Rory’s grandmother and Lorelai’s mother, are at crossroads. Emily is trying to heal — and figure out who she is — in the aftermath of her husband’s death. “I was married for fifty years,” Emily says. “Half of me is gone.” Lorelai, meanwhile, seems to be feeling restless in her relationship with Luke. She admits, “I thought I knew exactly what I wanted and where I was going, but lately I don’t know: Things seem hazier.” Rory is the most unmoored of the bunch: “This is my time to be rootless,” she proclaims. But as she later reveals, “I’m feeling very lost these days. I have no job. I have no credit. I have no underwear.”

Both Graham and Bledel scored handsome paychecks for “Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life.” The two actresses topped the drama section of Variety’s recently released list of TV’s highest-earning stars.

“Gilmore Girls: A Year In The Life” is composed of four 90-minute chapters named after the seasons: Winter, Spring, Summer, and Fall. “Gilmore Girls” was created by Amy Sherman-Palladino, who executive produced, wrote, and directed the upcoming four mini-movies with Daniel Palladino. “A Year in The Life” hits Netflix November 25.

Check out the trailer to see a tour of Stars Hollow, Rory reunite with an ex, and a familiar face who became a movie star post-“Gilmore Girls.”
