Trailer Watch: Sandra Bullock Plans a Heist at the Met Gala in “Ocean’s 8”

“Ocean’s 8”

Sandra Bullock is an ex-con eyeing an epic comeback in “Ocean’s 8.” The Oscar winner plays Debbie Ocean, a woman who celebrates her release from prison by plotting a hugely ambitious heist. A new trailer for the star-studded pic sees Debbie laying out the plan for her best friend and partner in crime, Lou (Cate Blanchett).

Debbie explains that she’s thinking much bigger than a jewelry store and more akin to a “diamond mine.” She wants to rob the Met Gala, and specifically the $150 million necklace of an actress set to attend (Anne Hathaway).

Debbie can offer the team she assembles $15 million dollars each if they pull it off. But to get the money they’ll have to outmaneuver the “most sophisticated security system in the world.” Fortunately they all seem up to the challenge. “Game on!” shouts the designated hacker (Rihanna).

Their co-conspirators include a jeweler (Mindy Kaling), a fashion designer (Helena Bonham Carter), a pickpocket (Awkwafina), and a retired con (Sarah Paulson).

“Ocean’s 8” hits theaters June 8. Olivia Milch co-wrote the script.
