A trailer has finally dropped for “Killing Eve,” and it looks like we’re in for a riveting game of cat and mouse — it’s just not entirely clear who is playing which role. Hailing from “Fleabag” creator and star Phoebe Waller-Bridge, the new BBC America series follows Eve (Sandra Oh, “Grey’s Anatomy”), a whip-smart aspiring spy stuck with an unfulfilling MI5 desk job, and Villanelle (Jodie Comer, “The White Princess”), the sophisticated assassin she becomes fixated on.
“I know you are an extraordinary person,” Eve tells Villanelle. “Exceptionally bright, determined. I know something happened to you. I know you’re a psychopath.”
“You should never tell a psychopath they’re a psychopath,” the killer warns, with a hint of playfulness. Check out the trailer to hear her unexpected explanation.
Based on Luke Jennings’ “Villanelle” novellas, the thriller premieres on BBC America April 8.
Waller-Bridge has another TV project in the works. The “Crashing” actress and creator will exec produce “Run,” a series about exes who make a pact to disappear together should they ever text the magic word to one another — “RUN.” “Fleabag” will return for a second season but a premiere date hasn’t been announced yet.
