“You don’t know everything about me,” says Scarlett Johansson in a new trailer for Cate Shortland’s “Black Widow.” Set between the events of “Captain America: Civil War” and “Avengers: Infinity War,” the standalone pic sees Black Widow/ Natasha returning to Russia and reconciling with her past.
The spot follows Nastasha’s journey “back to where it all started” and her attempts to make sense of her complicated history. “I’ve lived a lot of lives,” she emphasizes. “Before I was an Avenger, before I got this family, I made mistakes choosing between what the world wants you to be and who you are.”
Finding herself meant leaving her sister Yelena (Florence Pugh) behind. “To me, you were everything,” Yelena tells her.
A two-time Oscar nominee, Johansson scored nods for “Marriage Story” and “Jojo Rabbit.”
Pugh received an Oscar nomination for “Little Women.” Her other credits include “Midsommar” and “Fighting with My Family.”
“Berlin Syndrome,” “Lore,” and episodes of “SMILF” are among Shortland’s previous credits.
“Black Widow” hits theaters and Disney+ with Premier Access July 9. Rachel Weisz co-stars.
