Short Term 12, starring Brie Larson, is about Grace, a twentysomething, working at a foster care facility, alongside her co-worker boyfriend (John Gallagher Jr.). Grace is excellent at her job but alongside a surprise pregnancy, she’s holding on to a secret that’s slowly breaking her down.
The film, which won the Grand Jury Narrative Prize at SXSW, was one of my favorite films there. Brie Larson is terrific in the film, cementing herself as a force to watch.
Short Term 12 hits theaters on August 23rd. It should be on your summer must see list.
