According to Steve Bannon, he’s the one responsible for Donald Trump being named the 45th President of the United States. “If I had not come in as CEO of the campaign Trump would not have won,” the hate-mongering racist claims — as if that’s something to be proud of — in a new trailer for “The Brink.” Directed by Alison Klayman, the documentary turns the camera on Bannon, who left his position as White House chief strategist less than a week after the Charlottesville “Unite the Right” rally in August 2017.
“There’s no glamour to the job at all,” Bannon says of his tenure at the White House. “I hated every second I was there.” Best known for supporting and influencing toxic far-right ideology and making a major mark in Trump’s inner circle, Bannon became “free to peddle influence as a perceived kingmaker, turning his controversial brand of nationalism into a global movement,” the film’s synopsis details. “The Brink” follows Bannon “through the 2018 mid-term elections in the United States, shedding light on his efforts to mobilize and unify far-right parties in order to win seats in the May 2019 European Parliamentary elections.”
“I’m on a mission to convert as many people as possible,” Bannon explains. “I’m about one thing. I’m about winning.”
“Take Your Pills” and “11/8/16” are among Klayman’s previous credits.
“The Brink” made its world premiere at Sundance in January. The film hits theaters March 29.
