Trailer Watch: The Bellas Embark on a Farewell Tour in “Pitch Perfect 3”

“Pitch Perfect 3”: Quantrell D. Colbert/Universal Pictures

Post-college life can be tricky. Just ask former Barden Bellas Beca, Chloe, Fat Amy, and Aubrey. They show up to an a cappella event expecting to perform with the current Bellas and are humiliated to find out they were invited to watch, not to sing. “I just thought you guys were so busy with your awesome jobs and amazing lives,” their protege Emily (Hailee Steinfeld) says in the trailer for “Pitch Perfect 3.”

Yeah, not so much. Life after Barden hasn’t been easy for the ladies of the “Pitch Perfect” franchise, as a previous trailer hinted. They feel like they peaked when they were part of the Barden Bellas. As they commiserate about their not-so-amazing lives over drinks, Aubrey (Anna Camp) suggests they get together for one last show, a USO performance in Europe. Before they know it, the Bellas are at a naval base in Spain and watching Fat Amy (Rebel Wilson) greeting two marines with sexual innuendos.

Unfortunately the USO show isn’t all fun and games. Shortly after arriving on base, the Bellas meet the tour’s other three bands. Wanting to prove they are more than just a “cover band,” the girls challenge the others to a riff-off and lose, badly. “Is it weird that everybody is better at the one thing that we do than we are at that thing?” Beca (Anna Kendrick) deadpans. Looks like the Bellas have their work aca-cut out for them.

Directed by Trish Sie and written by Kay Cannon, “Pitch Perfect 3” hits theaters December 22, 2017. Brittany Snow, Alexis Knapp, Hana Mae Lee, Ester Dean, Ruby Rose, John Lithgow, and DJ Khaled also co-star.
