Trailer Watch: “The L Word” Saga Continues with “Generation Q”

"The L Word: Generation Q"

Bette, Alice, and Shane are back. The mainstays of the original “L Word” make an appearance in the trailblazing drama’s sequel series, “The L Word: Generation Q,” and are joined by a new group of lesbians navigating love and sex in Los Angeles. A trailer for the much-anticipated Showtime project has arrived.

The clip reacquaints us with Bette (Jennifer Beals), who is determined to become “the first lesbian mayor of Los Angeles”; Alice (Leisha Hailey), who now seems to be working at a digital media company; and Shane (Katherine Moennig), whose return to LA is met with a truly awesome surprise party.

We’re also introduced to the new faces of Generation Q, including Bette’s advisor Dani (Arienne Mandi, “Hawaii Five-0”), Dani’s partner/Alice’s co-worker Sophie (Rosanny Zayas, “The Code”), and their friend Finley (Jacqueline Toboni, “Easy”).

Dani seems to be nursing a crush on Bette, but assures Sophie she’s going to propose any day now. “One day I’m gonna pull off this elaborate move and it will all be for you,” she promises. Meanwhile, Finley is falling in love for the first time and Alice is struggling to bond with her partner’s (Stephanie Allyne, “One Mississippi”) kids.

“The L Word: Generation Q” premieres December 8. Showrunner Marja-Lewis Ryan (“6 Balloons”) is exec producing with the original series’ creator, Ilene Chaiken. Sepideh Moafi (“The Deuce”) and Leo Sheng (“Adam”) also star.
