Trailer Watch: The “Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt” Takes on the Reverend Again in Interactive Special

"Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt: Kimmy vs. The Reverend": Netflix

The audience will choose Kimmy Schmidt’s (Ellie Kemper) next adventure in Netflix’s upcoming interactive special, “Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt: Kimmy vs. The Reverend.” According to a new trailer, one of the many choices viewers/players will get to make is whether Kimmy and her fiancĂ© (Daniel Radcliffe) will “practice for their honeymoon” (i.e. make out) or continue planning their wedding.

“What is wrong with you? Why are you making these two pasty children tongue down?” a horrified Titus (Tituss Burgess) asks, if and when you select the former option.

While viewers will be in control of the details, the overarching story of “Kimmy vs. The Reverend” involves Kimmy trying to find another bunker of women a few days before her wedding. She gets a hunch — and a confirmation — that the dipshit reverend (Jon Hamm) who kept her captive for 15 years also victimized others.

“I have to get to those girls!” Kimmy vows in the spot. Alongside Titus, she travels across the country to track down and free the women. Per the synopsis, her quest involves “Three states! Explosions! A dancing hamburger!”

Created by Tina Fey and Robert Carlock, the series “Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt” ran for four seasons, from 2015-2019, on Netflix. It netted 18 Emmy nominations, including two acting nods for Kemper. Jane Krakowski and Carol Kane are also among the cast.

“Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt: Kimmy vs. The Reverend” hits Netflix May 12.
