“Which one of them’s got blood on their hands?” a sarcastic Matthew Goode (“The Good Wife”) asks in Amazon Prime’s trailer for “Ordeal by Innocence.” Sandra Goldbacher’s (“Victoria”) adaptation of Agatha Christie’s most renowned work explores the answer to his question.
Penned by Sarah Phelps (“The Witness for the Prosecution”), this three-part miniseries follows the Argyll family as they succumb to a great shock: Jack Argyll (Anthony Boyle, “The Lost City of Z”), who was previously accused of murdering the family’s oppressive matriarch (Anna Chancellor, “The Hour”), in reality has an alibi. As the family grapples with Jack’s supposed innocence, they must also come to terms with the fact that the true murderer has been among them all along.
“Ordeal of Innocence’s” ensemble cast also features Bill Nighy (“Love Actually”), Morven Christie (“The A Word”), Crystal Clarke (“Assassin’s Creed”), Christian Cooke (The Promise), Alice Eve (“Star Trek Into Darkness”), Ella Purnell (“Sweetbitter”), Eleanor Tomlinson (“Poldark”), and Luke Treadaway (“Fortitude”)
Phelps, Karen Thrussell, and Mammoth Screen’s Helen Ziegler are among the series’ producers.
“Ordeal by Innocence” is the first of three Agatha Christie adaptations heading to Amazon Prime and premieres on August 10.
