A college student (Hermione Corfield, “Star Wars: The Last Jedi”) has car trouble on her way to a job interview in a trailer for Jen McGowan’s “Rust Creek.” Already the stuff of nightmares, the situation gets potentially lethal when two sketchy men approach her as she’s stranded on the road. Shortly after warning her that the remote Kentucky woods she’s stuck in can be “a crazy place,” they attack her.
The young woman manages to escape but just barely. She’s injured and finds herself in a trailer with a loner (Jay Paulson, “Mad Men”) she’s not sure she can trust.
At first it seems that he’s holding her captive against her will, but he claims to be doing so for her own safety. “If they find you here, they’ll kill you,” he warns of the men who assaulted her. And he seems to be telling the truth.
McGowan made her feature directorial debut with 2014 Juliette Lewis-starrer “Kelly & Cal.”
“Rust Creek” opens January 4. Check out the intense trailer for the survival thriller below.
