Tig Notaro is returning to HBO with a new look. A trailer has dropped for “Tig Notaro: Drawn,” the first-ever fully animated stand-up special. A new trailer for “Drawn” sees an animated version of Notaro cracking jokes about everything from “the Kool-Aid man” to internal bleeding. She’s also fessing up. “I play guitar and I was kind of known for being pretty amazing — even though nobody had seen me play,” she admits.
A press release from HBO details what else to expect from “Drawn,” which “blends Notaro’s signature voice and storytelling with a variety of captivating artistic styles as she recounts a hospital bed proposal, a high school talent show gone awry, the repercussions of a dental procedure, unintentionally blowing off fellow comedian Jenny Slate, a road trip with Dolly Parton, and more.”
Released in 2015, “Boyish Girl Interrupted,” Notaro’s last HBO special, earned her an Emmy and Grammy nomination. Her latest special, 2018’s “Happy To Be Here,” launched on Netflix.
Notaro co-created and starred in “One Mississippi,” a semi-autobiographical Amazon comedy about a radio host who returns home to Mississippi while recovering from a double mastectomy and a C. difficile infection. Her recent credits include “Army of the Dead” and “Star Trek: Discovery.”
“Drawn” debuts July 24 at 10 p.m. ET on HBO and will be available on HBO Max.
