Trailer Watch: Toni Collette and Molly Shannon Have an Epic “Fun Mom Dinner”

“Fun Mom Dinner”

“Never have I ever had real mom friends,” says Kate (Toni Collette) in a new trailer for “Fun Mom Dinner.” She’s playing a drinking game with three new mom pals: Jamie (Molly Shannon), Emily (Katie Aselton), and Melanie (Bridget Everett). The foursome have spent the night bonding. What was originally supposed to be a simple dinner away from their preschool kids becomes an epic party night, complete with smoking pot in the bathroom, flirting with cute bartenders, and for one mom, braving the streets dressed as a furry unicorn.

Penned by Julie Rudd, the comedy marks Alethea Jones’ (“Gortimer Gibbon’s Life on Normal Street,” “Cop Hard”) feature directorial debut.

Check out the trailer to see the moms dropping truth bombs (“It’s not babysitting when they’re your kids,” Emily tells her husband) and dealing with the literal shit that comes along being a parent.

“Fun Mom Dinner” premiered at Sundance back in January. It hits select theaters and On Demand August 4.
