Trailer Watch: Tracy Oliver Tells the Story of Four Friends in “Harlem”

"Harlem": Sarah Shatz/Prime Video

From “Girls Trip” scribe Tracy Oliver, “Harlem” follows four girlfriends living in the Manhattan neighborhood. A trailer for the Prime Video comedy introduces us to Camille (Meagan Good), an anthropology professor; Tye (Jerrie Johnson), a queer dating app creator; Quinn (Grace Byers), a trust-fund fashion designer; and Angie (Shoniqua Shandai), a singer and actress. “A strong Black woman is resilient, independent, and capable,” we’re told. “In 21st century Harlem we sisters can be fierce, be in charge, call the shots, get what we want.”

The spot sees Camille, Tye, Quinn, and Angie trying to get what they want in their professional and personal lives.

In addition to creating “Harlem,” Oliver is writing and exec producing the series. She also created “First Wives Club,” a BET+ series based on the 1996 pic of the same name. Led by Michelle Buteau, Jill Scott, and Ryan Michelle Bathe, “First Wives Club” has been renewed for a third season with a premiere date TBA.

“Harlem” drops on Prime Video December 3. Whoopi Goldberg co-stars.
