Zoey Deutch is ready to “stop trying not to be poor and start trying to get rich” in a new trailer for “Buffaloed.” Tanya Wexler’s dark comedy tells the story of Peg (Deutch), a young woman desperate to get out of her hometown and attend an Ivy League university. When Peg is accepted into her dream school, she realizes that she won’t be able to afford tuition unless she takes drastic measures.
Peg finds work as a debt collector, or as she likes to describe it, she “[relieves] people of the burden of debt.” She excels at the gig — so much so that she decides it’s time to be her own boss, despite the fact that striking out on her own means waging war with her former employer, the local kingpin of debt-collecting.
“The Politician,” “Zombieland: Double Tap,” and “Set It Up” are among Deutch’s recent credits.
Wexler’s credits include “Hysteria,” “Ball in the House,” and “Finding North.” She’s in post-production on “Jolt,” an action pic about a bouncer with anger management problems. Kate Beckinsale stars.
“Buffaloed” hits theaters February 14. Judy Greer co-stars.
