Showtime has released a video previewing the upcoming season of Nurse Jackie, which finds Edie Falco’s damaged-caretaker character back in the grips of her pill addiction.
Season six looks like a wager to see how much longer Jackie can keep up the double life her recent fall from sobriety has forced her into. “Hi, my name is Jackie, and I’ve been sober for one year,” she announces at the beginning of the new spot, with that pained, shy, seemingly sincere half-smile Falco’s mastered over the years.
“This is the season of the three D’s,” promises showrunner Clyde Phillips. “Deceit, descent, destruction.”
Nurse Jackie returns April 13.
