TV: Orange is the New Black Renewed for Season 3

A month before the long awaited return of Orange is the New Black for its sophomore season, Netflix went ahead and renewed the groundbreaking series for a third year.

That bodes well for the quality of Season 2, which will hopefully continue the formula showrunner Jenji Kohan established with the first 13 episodes by centering on new inmate Piper (Taylor Schilling) while generously devoting time to develop the stories of the less privileged detainees that surround her.

Co-star Laura Prepon, who plays the convicted drug runner Alex, will only be in four episodes next season, but will return full-time to the main cast in Season 3.

OITNB will be available for your marathoning pleasure on June 6.
