Kimmy Schmidt is coming back, and her return couldn’t be better timed. The eternal optimist promises to bring some much-needed light and laughter during the COVID-19 pandemic. Netflix announced a premiere date for an interactive “Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt” special, “Kimmy vs. the Reverend.”
Described as Kimmy’s (Ellie Kemper) “biggest adventure yet,” Netflix hints that the special will include “Three states! Explosions! A dancing hamburger! And you, the viewer, get to decide how the story goes. Will you foil the Reverend’s (Jon Hamm) evil plan and get Kimmy to her wedding on time? Or will you accidentally start a war against the robots?”
Created by Tina Fey and Robert Carlock, “Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt” ran for four seasons on Netflix. The Emmy-nominated comedy tells the story of Kimmy, a woman who survives a doomsday cult in Indiana and moves to New York City with the hopes of rebuilding her life.
“Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt: Kimmy vs. the Reverend” drops on Netflix May 12.
