Valérie Donzelli Will Preside Over Critics’ Week Jury at Cannes

French director and actress Valérie Donzelli will preside over the Critics’ Week jury at this year’s Cannes Film Festival.

Donzelli’s own film, the autobiographical “Declaration of War,” opened the 50th Critics’ Week in 2011 and her incest drama “Marguerite & Julien” screened in competition at the festival last year.

The rest of the jury is composed of filmmakers who debuted their first or second feature in the Critics’ Week section within the past five years and includes Alice Winocour, whose “Augustine” screened at Critics Week 2011. Her follow-up, “Disorder,” was selected for Un Certain Regard last year. Winocour recently won the César Award for best original screenplay for co-writing “Mustang.”

Also on the jury is Israeli director Nadav Lapid, U.S. writer-director David Robert Mitchell and Argentina’s Santiago Mitre.

Last week, another woman was announced as heading a jury at Cannes. Naomi Kawase was named as the president of both the Cinefondation section and Short Film Jury.

Cannes Film Festival runs from May 11 to 22 this year.
