Victoria Mahoney’s adding yet another credit to her rapidly expanding resume. The history-making director has been tapped to helm “Under the Bridge,” a medical drama pilot from CBS. Deadline broke the news.

Written by “Mistresses” executive producer Rina Mimoun, “Under the Bridge” centers on a surgeon whose life is upended “when a scandal rocks the medical practice she runs with her husband and their friends.” She “rises to the occasion and takes the lead in trying to mend both the practice and her own marriage.”

Mahoney is among the project’s exec producers. She recently wrapped her gig as second unit director on “Star Wars Episode IX,” making her the first African American woman to direct in the “Star Wars” franchise. She’s been extremely busy as of late, directing episodes of series such as “You,” “I Am the Night,” “Power,” “Claws,” “Grey’s Anatomy,” and “Queen Sugar,” among others. Mahoney made her pilot directing debut with “The Red Line,” a CBS drama that counts Ava DuVernay among its exec producers. Set to premiere April 28, the series explores the aftermath of a fatal police shooting involving an unarmed black man. She’s also collaborating with DuVernay on upcoming Octavia Butler adaptation “Dawn.”

Mahoney’s feature directing debut, Zoë Kravitz-starrer “Yelling to the Sky,” premiered at the 2011 Berlinale. “I removed all distractions, from the script and also my life,” Mahoney has said of the project. “I got over a fear of financial insecurity. I said to myself, ‘I will live on people’s couches.’ I was homeless through principal photography and most of postproduction. I don’t recommend it, but it shouldn’t stop you either.”
