Awkward is hands down one of the best teen shows airing right now. Created by Lauren Iungerich, the show follows Jenna (Ashley Rickards), an unpopular girl, who gains sudden notoriety after an extremely clumsy accident she has is misinterpreted as a suicide attempt. Jenna deals with the day to day of school, her best friends and competing love interests.
Reminiscent of Square Pegs, Awkward is a smart, snarky and full of heart look at the pains of being a teenager, especially being one that doesn’t quite fit in, but isn’t a complete social pariah. Netflix is streaming the first two seasons for a month before the third season (upped from 12 episodes to 20 for this season) begins on April 16th with an hour premiere on MTV at 10pm. Be sure to get caught up, it’s worth it.
