Calling Amina, Sarah, Juliette, and Faith: now would be the perfect time for that “We Are the Champions” cover. According to Deadline, “We Are Lady Parts” creator Nida Manzoor has wrapped production on her feature debut, “Polite Society.” The Working Title and Focus title is a feminist action-comedy.
Penned by Manzoor, the pic follows a “bolshy school girl and martial artist-in-training who dreams of becoming a world-renowned stunt woman. When she witnesses her big sister give up on her dreams and drop out of art school to get engaged, her world is shaken, and she believes she must save her sister from the shackles of marriage by pulling off a wedding heist,” per the source.
“Polite Society’s” cast includes Priya Kansara (“Bridgerton”), Ritu Arya (“Red Notice”), Shobu Kapoor (“We Are Lady Parts”), and Ella Bruccoleri (“Call the Midwife”).
“I Am Lady Parts” premiered in 2021 on Channel 4. The critically acclaimed six-part comedy follows a nerdy biochemical engineering Ph.D. student who becomes the lead guitarist of an all-female Muslim punk band. Their catalogue includes songs such as “Voldemort Under My Scarf” and “Bashir with the Good Beard.”
Manzoor’s other credits include “Doctor Who” and “Enterprice.”
