Pride and Prejudice and Zombies

A zombie outbreak has fallen upon the land in this reimagining of Jane Austen’s classic tale of the tangled relationships between lovers from different social classes in 19th century England. Feisty heroine Elizabeth Bennet (Lily James) is a master of martial arts and weaponry and the handsome Mr. Darcy (Sam Riley) is a fierce zombie killer, yet the epitome of upper class prejudice. As the zombie outbreak intensifies, they must swallow their pride and join forces on the blood-soaked battlefield in order to conquer the undead once and for all. (Press materials)

Tumbledown — Written by Desi Van Til

Pop culture scholar Andrew (Jason Sudeikis) comes to Maine to interview Hannah (Rebecca Hall), the protective widow of an acclaimed singer. When the unlikely pair strike a deal to co-write a biography, Andrew finds himself clashing with a cast of locals, including Hannah’s hunky suitor (Joe Manganiello) and her loving but defensive parents (Blythe Danner and Richard Masur). When Hannah and Andrew’s stormy partnership blossoms into an unexpected connection, they face the possibility that the next chapter in their lives may involve each other. Dianna Agron and Griffin Dunne co-star in this startlingly funny and sweetly romantic tale of moving on and finding love in the unlikeliest of places. (Press materials)

TV Highlights This Week

Not Safe with Nikki Glaser (Premieres February 9 on Comedy Central)

“Not Safe with Nikki Glaser” is a free-form venue where comic and curious perv Nikki investigates the issues the rest of us are too timid to ask about through a mix of panel discussions, field pieces and social experiments. If there’s a sex or relationship topic that would make a normal TV host blush, Nikki will tackle it with an enthusiasm as shameless as it is entertaining. Prudes, consider yourselves on notice. (Press materials)

Full Frontal with Samantha Bee (Premieres February 8 on TBS)

Putting aside the slightly problematic show title — I worry about what online searches are going to spit out if I leave off her name — Bee could be the exact right person to finally break up the ridiculously longstanding boys club that is late night. It’s gone along being so male for so long that it’s felt hopeless to even talk about — especially after the last round of host replacements (Ferguson, Letterman, Stewart) in which nary a chair ended up with a woman’s butt in it … What I want is a female-hosted show that’s ready to do real social media battle with the likes of Kimmel, Fallon and even my beloved John Oliver. I want someone who’s savvy enough about media-stickiness that she can generate show content that will regularly get everyone talking. And I want a female host who’s going to do slightly more substantive things than play beer pong with celebrities. Judging from the clips being released online ramping up to the show, that seems highly likely. (Sara Stewart)
