Do you know a woman who has written a great, but unproduced, pilot? WeForShe is here to help. The women’s advocacy group is accepting nominations for the 2020 WriteHer List. Each year WeForShe curates a list of the best unproduced female-written and -driven TV pilot scripts in order to increase the number of employed women writers in the biz. The deadline for 2020 nominations is November 27, 2019.
Only industry professionals can submit nominations. Nominees can be from any background or at any phase in their career. Any genre is eligible as long as it is co-written by a least one woman and features female protagonists. Multiple nominations can be made by one person as well.
Self submissions and agency/manager nominations will not be accepted. Scripts that do not pass the Bechdel Test — i.e. do not have at least two women who talk to each other about something other than a man — are not eligible.
Past WriteHer List selectees have become TV staff writers, gained new representation, received overall deals, and have had their scripts bought, developed, and broadcast.
Arielle Diaz (“Disrupted”), Emma Jay (“Almost Olympian”), and Nneka Samuel (“Rejig”) are among the scribes who made the 2019 WriteHer List.
You can submit your nomination by sending the writer’s name, their contact information or representation, the logline, and the script itself to writeherlist@weforshe.org. Go to WeForShe’s website for more information.
