Looking for finishing funds for your independent documentary? You just may be in luck. Project Greenlight Digital Studios (PGLDS) and Seed&Spark are teaming up to launch a 60-day crowdfunding rally in the hopes of funding a great, as-yet untold story — so they can board the project and help tell it.
The studios will offer up to $20,000 in finishing funds for an indie doc project in production that follows the theme of “The Untold Story.” So, what constitutes as an untold story? According to an announcement from PGLDS and Seed&Spark, those tackling generic JFK conspiracy theories need not apply — what they’re much more interested in is hearing an original story about people, places and ideas that aren’t already on most people’s radars. As they put it, “Making a doc about your mom’s involvement [with JFK conspiracy theories,] which no one’s ever heard of before? SUPER.” So the studios are looking for innovative angles and perspectives.
In addition to up to $20,000 in finishing funds, the winning project will receive a digital distribution package as well as marketing support from PGLDS and Seed&Spark during festivals and the distribution process.
To be eligible you must create a project and launch a 30-day crowdfunding campaign for a minimum of $10,000 on Seed&Spark between May 1 and June 1.
The judges include director Dawn Porter (“Trapped”) and Lisa Kleiner Chanoff, co-founder of Catapult Film Fund.
