The League of American Orchestras and EarShot have named Julia Adolphe and Melody Eotvos the winners of a new program designed to promote women composers.
Adolphe and Eotvos will each be awarded with a $15,000 prize to write a 15-minute work. Both compositions will be performed by orchestras to be determined.
Among the program’s sponsors is the Virginia B. Toulmin Foundation, which also funded a competition via Opera America for mid-career female composers earlier this year.
