Winnie Holzman to Receive Lilly Award for Lifetime Achievement

Winnie Holzman, best known for creating My So-Called Life, Once and Again and co-creating Huge, will receive a lifetime achievement honor for writing the book and lyrics to the worldwide hit Wicked, among other accomplishments, at the fifth annual Lilly Awards.

Named after playwright Lillian Hellman, the Lillys commend women in theater.

The June 2 ceremony will take place a Playwright’s Horizons and also laurel eleven other notables: director Liesl Tommy; playwrights Susan Bernfield, Jen Silverman, and Dominique Morisseau; actresses Johanna Day, Rebecca Naomi Jones, and Kelli O’Hara; composers Jeanine Tesori and Kristen Anderson-Lopez; music director Mary-Mitchell Campbell; and agent Joyce Ketay.

The awards ceremony will also include a tribute to A Raisin in the Sun playwright Lorraine Hansberry.
