Women and Hollywood’s Response to COVID-19

Friends,

We’re living in unprecedented times. At Women and Hollywood we are trying to determine how to operate in the throes of the coronavirus. We remain dedicated to supporting works by and about women, and are brainstorming how to best do that under the current circumstances. We wanted to update our readers about what we’re thinking of doing in the next few weeks:

  • Signal boosting when we can — let us know if your project or campaign could use some love on social media.
  • Writing about features and series that can be streamed or are available for purchase on VOD. Please send us your projects and we will consider them for coverage.
  • Temporarily suspending our weekly newsletter’s coverage of theatrical openings. Given current warnings, we cannot recommend folks head to the cinema at this time. This will not affect anything available online or on TV. We’ll be enjoying media from the comfort of our homes and encourage you to do the same.
  • Running a recurring crowdfunding feature to help raise awareness about projects affected by fest cancellations and other cancellations. More details can be found here.
  • Listening to suggestions — this is our current plan. Nothing is written in stone. If you have ideas for how we can support women creatives and our readership during the pandemic, please let us know.
  • You can contact us at melissa@womenandhollywood.com. Please note that we will be running a recurring crowdfunding feature to help raise awareness about projects affected by fest cancellations.

It bears mentioning that Women and Hollywood is a remote operation — our current team members live in different countries, and we’ve always communicated primarily through online means. No one will be asked to attend events or screenings.

Stay safe, everyone! We’re keeping everyone in our thoughts, and sending lots of appreciation to medical personnel and everyone else dedicated to keeping us healthy.

Love,
The Women and Hollywood Team
