Women Comedy Creators Soar This Season on TV

Something is happening on TV and we need to acknowledge it.

First, all the new shows that are breaking out this season are comedies. That hasn’t happened for a long time.

Second, those comedies are all created (or co-created) by WOMEN.

The New Girl which is best rated show of the season was created by Elizabeth Meriwether.
Two Broke Girls — created by Whitney Cummings and Michael Patrick King.
Whitney — created by Whitney Cummings
Up All Night — created by Emily Spivey

These are the only four shows given a full season pickup. The good news about the success of these women is that it will hopefully open some more opportunities for other female writers.
